Who We Are
Looking for a place where you will be known, remembered and belong? Cornersville United Methodist is a small, friendly congregation where guests are greeted with enthusiasm and invited to return. We worship on Sunday mornings at 11:00 with a casual-traditional format. Our service includes choral specials, congregational singing, and a special children’s message. A nursery is available for infants – 4 year olds. Our messages are meant to be inspiring, helpful and result in a closer relationship to God and with one another. We celebrate Holy Communion (The Lord’s Supper) on the first Sunday of the month, giving an open invitation to all who are present, and earnestly repent of their sins, to partake- even children are welcome at The Lord’s Table in The UMC. During the week we have a vibrant and growing Wednesday night line-up that includes a meal for children / youth and classes for all ages. Check the calendar for special events and activities.
The church's brick building was completed in 1852. Its lower story was designed for religious use and the upper story was designed for Masonic meetings; the Masons relinquished their meeting space to the church in 1939. In October 1862, the church hosted the Tennessee Annual Conference of its Methodist denomination because Civil War hostilities made it unsafe to meet in Nashville. A fellowship hall was added in 1956. The church building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
